Supporters of the two prominent Speakership candidates, Femi Gbajabiamila and Umar Bago, have flooded the eagle square and National Assembly entrance with giant flex banners in their support.
While the Gbajabiamila banners urged would be voters to vote for “over 8 years of confidence” and to “Choose experience and competence”, the Bago posters has the inscription, ” Justice for all zones,” and “representation for each section of the nation, not just one.”
There were also banners with the inscriptions “Next Level” with pictures of President Muhammadu Buhari, APC Leader, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Ahmed Lawan, the Senate President aspirant and the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje and a senator from Kano North, Barau Jibrin..
There were drumming, occasional singing and scores of supporters.
Meanwhile, there is a serious security beef up at the National Assembly Complex ahead of the inauguration of the 9th Assembly.
All the three entrances into the National Assembly (Presidential, SGF and Mopol Gate) were blocked with vehicles by security personnel.
There was a heavy presence of men of the DSS, Police and Civil Defence at the entrances and around the NASS complex.
Staff and reporters that did not have accreditation purposely meant for the inaugurating were turned back. Even the regular National Assembly identity cards could not get workers into the complex.
