The Joint Task Force North West, operating under Operation Fansan Yamma, has underscored the importance of their ongoing missions in the region, particularly against the Lakurawa terrorist organization. They assert that their primary goal is to conduct precise strikes while safeguarding civilian lives.

This statement comes in response to recent allegations that a military fighter jet bombed civilian structures in the Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma, stated, “These reports have raised concerns; however, it is crucial to clarify that all military operations are conducted based on thorough intelligence and reconnaissance missions.”

He further explained, “This rigorous process is essential when targeting groups like the Lakurawa terrorist organization, as it aims to ensure precision and protect civilian lives.”

Given the serious nature of these operations, the public is urged to rely on verified information to prevent the spread of misinformation and unnecessary panic.

“There is a significant risk that terrorist groups may attempt to undermine military successes through media disinformation, making it necessary to exercise caution regarding unverified claims, especially in our ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry.”

Importantly, the areas targeted near Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa have been positively identified as associated with the Lakurawa group, which reinforces the justification for the military actions taken.
