President Tinubu’s “Jos Should be Just Statement on Visit, A Fatherly Advise to The Plateau People

President Tinubu’s visit to Plateau State and his “JOS SHOULD BE JUST” statement are akin to his infamous subsidy-gone statement made on his first day of inauguration at Eagle Square. The two statements are opposites in terms of the strength of their impact on the general well-being of the people.
The current statement of “JOS SHOULD BE JUST” on his visit to condole with the government over the Rukuba massacre, has a direct positive impact on the people as it’s capable of solving the protracted Plateau crisis that has taken many innocent lives. The Phrase can be best referred to as the mother of all solutions.
The intrinsic meaning of the Phrase is literally subject to different interpretations, so there’s no meaningful interpretation that can be given without highlighting the place of JUSTICE, FAIRNESS and INCLUSIVENESS. Basically, these three key words of JUSTICE FAIRNESS and INCLUSIVENESS are lacking in the conduct of human-related activities both in the governance structure and the residential pattern in Plateau State.

In support of the powerful Phrase made by President Tinubu, the former governor of Plateau State, Simon Lanlung was quoted to have said that the problem of Plateau can only be resolved by the Plateau people and not outsiders.
What that implies is that the people knew the foundation of this crisis that has bedevilled the State for a long time.
By opening the can of worms and calling a spade a spade, it’s imperative to know that issues of indigene and settlers are always the focal point resulting in the crisis. It’s with this mindset that each administration tends to deny the so-called settlers a place in the governance either as deputy governor or SSG, even when across the state, they constituted over forty per cent (40%) of the voting population. They are denied this as a result of their professing faith, not even minding that many of their own tribal indigenous people are of the same faith as the so-called settlers.

Again, all of this behaviour leads to intolerance between the two leading faiths, so that they now have to live in separate areas different from each other.
A stitch in time saves nine; if the people of Plateau State take the “JOS SHOULD BE JUST” statement into account, it will be better for one united Plateau governed in purpose and unity.
